About the Program
APALF produced The Race Epidemic, an award-winning documentary about Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAP|s) and their unique history in the context of racism in America. The Race Epidemic is consistent with APALF’s mission to engage the AAPI community in active civic participation by creating, supporting, building, and strengthening the local community infrastructure. The film educates people about the history of racism and violence against AAPIs, motivates people to get active and encourages civic engagement.
The Race Epidemic is a centerpiece of APALF’s ACTION (ACT. Influence. Organize. Now.) Training Program – which trains and organizes a new generation of AAPIs across the country to respond to bias, discrimination, and violence against AAPls.
Mission
Fight racism and attacks on AAPls.
Foster better understanding of AAPIs and encourage civic engagement
Goals
Ignite a national discussion on race, politics and the challenges AAPIs face.
Educate the public on the history of racism, xenophobia, attacks, and discrimination against AAPIs.
Organize ACTION Training Program nationwide utilizing The Race Epidemic film as a catalyst for deeper conversation,
advocacy and leadership within – and for — the AAPI community.
